Thus far, experience has been no factor in the CIF state Division V championship game.

Sophomore guard Bryan Alberts has scored six points for Sun Valley Village Christian, which is ahead of reigning champion Alameda St. Joseph Notre Dame, 8-4, after the first quarter.

Junior forward Andrew English has the only other basket for the Crusaders, who are boxing out and contesting every shot.

Junior guard James Lafolette has five points for St. Joseph Notre Dame, which won the North Coast Section and is in its eighth state final.

Village Christian, meanwhile, is making its first state finals appearance. The Crusaders lost to Ribet Academy in the Southern Section Division 5AA semifinals before upsetting both Playa del Rey St. Bernard and La Canada Renaissance Academy in the Southern California Regional playoffs.
