Boys’ basketball: The Katin Reinhardt mystery

Santa Ana Mater Dei officials have not returned any calls after repeated attempts since Friday to learn the status of standout guard Katin Reinhardt for Saturday’s Division I Southern California Regional game against Mission Viejo.

There have been reports that Reinhardt suffered a thumb injury in practice and didn’t play much in a Wednesday victory over Crescenta Valley.

Messages left for Coach Gary McKnight have not been returned. School spokeswoman Pam Coe also provided no information on a request to determine Reinhardt’s availability.
