Boys' basketball: Steve Goldstein is out at La Salle

Longtime Pasadena La Salle Coach Steve Goldstein won't be back as basketball coach after 22 seasons.

"We're going in a different direction," Athletic Director Anthony Harris said Tuesday.

Whether he resigned or was fired, that's probably up to Goldstein to decide. But he's another casualty of the ongoing race in the private schools to be the best, and how you get there, no one seems to care.

Goldstein's failure was he didn't win enough championships or get enough transfers. Making the playoffs virtually every season is no longer good enough.
