Boys’ basketball: Serra holds off Pacific Hills, 58-55

Gardena Serra survived a late fourth-quarter surge to eliminate West Hollywood Pacific Hills, 58-55, in a CIF Southern California Regional Division IV semifinal game at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Guard Kajon Mack and forward Daddy Ugbede each scored 20 points to lead the top-seeded Cavaliers (31-2), who advanced to the regional finals Saturday ay Colony High in Ontario. Mack made two free throws with 5.5 seconds left to put the Southern Section Division 4AA champions ahead, 58-52.

Guard Brandon Taylor scored 26 points to pace the fifth-seeded Bruins (30-5), the Southern Section 4A champions. Taylor made four three-pointers, the last from the left corner as the fourth-quarter clock expired to pull Pacific Hills within three points.

Serra led 27-25 at halftime and 43-33 after three quarters.
