Mission Viejo put up a good fight, but Orange Lutheran (21-10) became the second Trinity League team to celebrate a championship Saturday night at the Anaheim Convention Center, coming away with 64-58 victory in the Southern Section 1A final.

A healthy, feisty Gabe York torched the Diablos (27-4) for 28 points and was enjoying every minute of it, including a monster dunk. York made 10 of 19 shots. Jared Carver scored 11 points and Darien Williams 10 with 13 rebounds.

Evan Zeller gave Mission Viejo a 54-53 lead with 3:50 left after making a three-pointer, but the Lancers didn’t flinch and took charge the rest of the way.

Michael Cramer scored 16 points, Max Redfield 14 and Zeller 13 for the Diablos.

Total attendance for the morning and night sessions in Anaheim was 13,071.

Lutheran is mostly healthy, and Coach Chris Nordstrom believes his team can be a factor when the Division I state playoffs begin this coming week.

‘I feel like we’ve got all our guys back,’ he said.
