Boys’ basketball: MVP honors for Shabazz Muhammad

Shabazz Muhammad, the standout basketball player at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, was named MVP of Wednesday’s McDonald’s All American Game in Chicago for boys. He led the West to a 106-102 victory over the East.

He finished with 21 points. He’s expected to announce his college choice next month. UCLA, Kentucky, and Duke are in the running.

UCLA-bound Nirra Fields of Santa Ana Mater Dei led all scorers with 20 points in the girls’ game. The East won, 79-78.
