Boys’ basketball: Gary McKnight goes for record ninth state title

It could be a historic Saturday night in Sacramento. Santa Ana Mater Dei will be trying to give Coach Gary McKnight his record ninth state championship. McKnight and former Crenshaw Coach Willie West are tied with eight state titles apiece.

Mater Dei plays Sacramento Sheldon in the Division I final on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Power Balance Pavilion.

Price Coach Michael Lynch is going for his seventh state title on Friday in the Division IV game. He is tied with Westchester Coach Ed Azzam with six titles apiece.
