Basketball: Stage is set for Mater Dei squads

The day session has ended and the night session is just about to begin at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, where the Santa Ana Mater Dei boys and girls squads will both try to repeat as CIF Division I state champions.

The Lady Monarchs will tip off shortly against North Coast Section champion Berkeley, followed by the Mater Dei boys game against Sacramento Sheldon at approximately 8:30 p.m. A Monarchs sweep would also restore some pride for Southern California teams, which have lost five of the first eight state finals games this weekend.
