Baseball: Sophomore Alonzo Garcia throws one-hitter for San Fernando

In a matchup between two City Section title contenders and two standout pitchers, sophomore Alonzo Garcia threw a one-hitter, striking out four and walking one, to help San Fernando defeat Banning and standout pitcher Erik Magdaleno, 1-0.

San Fernando scored the game's only run when Freddie Flores drove in the winning run by executing a two-strike squeeze bunt in the top of the seventh. Bobby Berumen had two of San Fernando's four hits off Magdaleno.

In another matchup between the Valley Mission League and the Marine League, Granada Hills Kennedy defeated San Pedro, 5-0, behind pitcher Pablo Gonzalez.
