Baseball: SoCal teams go 3-0 in North Carolina

The first day of the National High School Invitational in Cary, N.C., went well for Harvard-Westlake, Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran. Each team came away victorious in the opening round of the 16-team tournament.

Arden Pabst, Joe Corrigan, Max Fried and Alex Horowitz contributed two hits apiece and Jack Flaherty picked up the pitching victory in Harvard-Westlake’s 6-2 win over Seale (Ala.) Russell County.

Davis Tominaga threw a complete game in Mater Dei’s 10-3 win over Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

Art Vidrio threw six shutout innings and Cody Nulph got the save in Orange Lutheran’s 1-0 win over Columbus (Ga.).
