Baseball: Mater Dei advances to championship game

Santa Ana Mater Dei has gotten hot in Cary, N.C., advancing to the championship game of the National High School Invitational after a 5-1 win over Sarasota (Fla.).

Ryan McMahon had an RBI single for the Monarchs, who have been receiving outstanding pitching. Three pitchers limited Sarasota to seven hits. Ty Moore had two RBIs.

In a consolation game, Orange Lutheran defeated Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood, 7-4. Matt Stumme had a double and two RBIs.
