Baseball: Lakewood wins, 1-0, in pitching duel with Long Beach Wilson

The pitching matchup between Lakewood’s Shane Watson and Long Beach Wilson’s Chase DeJong was as good as advertised Friday night. Lakewood won the Moore League game, 1-0, on JP Crawford’s RBI double in the sixth.

DeJong struck out 12. Watson went the distance for Lakewood.

In the Mission League, Kevin Carswell hit a grand slam in Loyola’s 9-4 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. JJ Muno went four for four for Notre Dame. Crespi defeated Chaminade, 6-5.

In the Pacific League, Crescenta Valley defeated Burbank, 8-5. Elliot Surrey struck out seven in a complete game.

Phil Bickford of Oaks Christian threw a shutout in a 4-0 win over Nordhoff. He struck out 15. Bickford, a junior, committed to Cal State Fullerton.

L.A. Cathedral defeated Bosco Tech, 7-0. Julian Perez was two for two.

Malibu defeated Grace Brethren, 2-0.

In the Marmonte League, Moorpark defeated Royal, 9-2. Newbury Park stayed unbeaten in league with a 13-4 win over Calabasas. Myles Harvey went four for four with three RBIs. Westlake defeated Simi Valley, 4-3. Luke Dykstra had a home run and double. Agoura also stayed unbeaten in league with a 10-2 win over Thousand Oaks. Preston Rosemont had four RBIs and Bryce Fehmel had three hits.
