Baseball: Justin Garza keeps pitching at a different level

Senior pitcher Justin Garza of La Verne Bonita has won 18 consecutive decisions dating back to his sophomore year. And he keeps getting better and better.

On Saturday night, he threw a one-hitter to defeat Covina, 1-0. He struck out seven with zero walks and needed only 70 pitches.

This season, he's 2-0 and hasn't given up a run in 13 innings. Garza has been clocked throwing fastballs between 91 and 93 mph. He has signed with Cal State Fullerton.

"He was awesome," Coach John Knott said.

Bonita is 3-0 in the Dicks tournament and could end up facing South Hills next Saturday in the championship game.
