Baseball: Davis Tominaga, Ty Moore combine on Mater Dei shutout

No. 1-ranked Santa Ana Mater Dei got back into the win column on Wednesday, getting six shutout innings from Davis Tominaga and a scoreless seventh from Ty Moore to defeat Capistrano Valley, 2-0.

JSerra picked up its first victory with a 3-1 win over Bishop Amat. Trevor Charpie struck out five and allowed an unearned run in five innings.

Riverside North is 6-0 after a 4-2 win over Thousand Oaks. Robert Ortega threw six innings and Gabrial Franca got the save.

In the Poly tournament, Peyton Long threw a six-inning three-hitter in Cleveland’s 10-0 win over Garfield. Grant Shapiro had three hits and Jack Hartman had three RBIs. San Fernando defeated Poly, 13-0, in five innings. Carlos Robles had four RBIs and Isaac Dominguez had two hits and three RBIs. North Hollywood defeated Panorama, 19-2. Zane Weston had three hits and four RBIs.

Brentwood defeated Milken, 12-0, in five innings. Freshman Aiden Fite struck out eight and allowed three hits. Fite and Aaron Fritts had two hits apiece.

Van Nuys and South East tied, 3-3, after nine innings. Ricky MacFarlane had two hits for Van Nuys.
