Anaheim Servite took its time in bringing out its ace, Cole Irvin, after he had a long summer and fall of action, but Irvin came through on Tuesday night in his season debut, striking out nine in six innings of a 6-1 win over Mira Costa.

Jeff Belger had three hits for Servite, which is 3-0 under first-year Coach Jeff Sears.

Irvin is an Oregon signee who was one of the best pitchers in the Trinity League last season.
