Baseball: Cody Thompson is outdueling Lucas Giolito

Entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Cody Thompson and Alemany have a 2-0 lead over Lucas Giolito and Harvard-Westlake in a Mission League opener.

Giolito, throwing fastballs in the 98 mph range, did not have command of his pitches early on. Alemany scored two runs in the third inning on two singles, two hit batters and a walk.

Thompson, throwing in the mid-80s, has mixed his pitches well and come through in pressure situations with men in scoring positions.
