Baseball: Birmingham pitcher has rooting interest in 'Dancing With the Stars'

March 26, 2012 |  8:12 pm

Birmingham pitcher Steven Rodriguez might suddenly become very popular among the girls at school once word leaks that his uncle is William Levy, the Mexican telenovela star who's appearing on "Dancing With the Stars."

"I'm popular without that," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez, who's 3-0 this season and scheduled to pitch in Thursday's West Valley League night game at home against Reseda Cleveland, told his teammates on Monday while getting off the bus from a 3-2 win over Cleveland, "Hey guys, don't forget to vote for my uncle tonight."

Rodriguez's mother is the sister of Levy's wife.

He's trying to get Levy to show up when he pitches. That could be breaking news for TMZ fans.
