Ace Cody Thompson wasn’t unbeatable on Tuesday, but he didn’t need to be with the run support he received in Alemany’s 9-3 Mission League victory over Chaminade.

Thompson (4-0) struck out eight, walked two and gave up five hits in six innings. Chaminade (5-4, 1-2) tied the game, 3-3, in the fifth on an RBI single by Jimmy Jauregui.

Then Alemany (8-1-1, 2-0-1), ranked No. 2 by The Times, knocked out left-hander Kevin Lewallyn in the bottom of the fifth. Corey Sims led off with a double. Ryan Paramo reached base on a bunt single. Chase Davis doubled and Christian Mercado delivered a two-run triple. Alemany scored four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Mercado finished with three hits and five RBIs. Davis also had three hits.

Loyola improved to 6-1-1 and 3-0 in the Mission League with a 2-0 victory over Crespi. Kevin Carswell threw a two-hitter. Corey Dempster and John Soteropulos each drove in a run. St. Francis defeated Notre Dame, 6-2. Anders Schraer had a bases clearing double.

Corbet Pollack threw a shutout in Village Christian’s 1-0 win over L.A. Baptist.
