Baseball: Riverside North defeats Redlands East Valley

In a matchup of top teams from the Inland Empire, defending Southern Section Division 1 champion Riverside North got 6 2/3 innings from Rai Garcia to defeat Redlands East Valley, 4-2, and improve to 3-0 on the season.

Gabrial Franco had a triple and picked up the save. Pepperdine-bound Jackson McClelland took the loss.

Corona Santiago defeated Palm Desert, 2-1. Scott Stidam and Adam Hofacket combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed three hits to outduel Brooks Kriske.

Cleveland defeated Santa Monica, 6-5, in nine innings. Josh Gomez threw eight innings for Cleveland and struck out 11. Jack Hartman’s squeeze bunt drove in the winning run.

Camarillo defeated Oaks Christian, 5-2. Hunter Virant struck out eight in seven innings. Nate Palace had a home run for Oaks Christian.

Kennedy (3-1) defeated Moorpark, 4-2, getting a two-run double in the fifth from Chris Mallon. Chatsworth defeated Agoura, 7-2. Jason Karkenny (2-0) threw a complete game. Hayden Tsutsui, Chris DeVito, Jared Holley, Raul Camas and Sam Shaikin had two hits apiece. Burbank defeated Calabasas, 2-0, behind a complete-game performance from Daniel Starkland. Andy Frakes threw six shutout innings in Crespi’s 9-0 win over Burroughs. Dos Pueblos defeated Hart, 8-4. Baggio Saldivar had three hits for Hart.

Santa Barbara defeated Righetti, 13-2. Kees t’Sas gave up one hit in five innings. Johnny Brontsema hit a three-run home run. Santa Barbara is 3-0.
