A tough but encouraging night for Oak Park basketball

Oak Park’s boys’ and girls’ teams were eliminated from the Division III regionals on Saturday night, but they went down in thrilling fashion.
The boys’ team lost in double overtime to Cathedral Catholic, 89-79. Ron Lee Jr. scored 34 points, including a half-court shot that sent the game into the second overtime.
The girls’ team came close to upsetting No. 1-seeded San Diego Mission Bay, 60-59. Leah Greenberg made eight three-pointers and finished with 24 points.
Lee is a junior, and Oak Park’s girls’ team returns four starters.
