Boys' basketball: Oaks Christian comes up with big road victory

February 17, 2012 |  9:16 pm

It's very difficult to go into Chaminade High School and beat the Eagles in front of their vocal, energetic, relentless student section. That's what Oaks Christian did Friday night, pulling out a 63-57 victory in a Southern Section 4AA second-round game.

Michael Roletti and Jason Ghilarducci each scored 18 points for the Lions (21-5), who will host the winner of Saturday's Big Bear-La Verne Lutheran game in Tuesday's quarterfinals. Jack Williams scored 23 points and Jaron Martin 18 for Chaminade (18-10), which suffered from Oaks Christian spurts of 16-0 and 11-0 during the game.

Price defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 66-47. Top seeded Gardena Serra defeated Workman, 75-24. Big Bear knocked off Banning, 77-60. Crespi held off Sierra Canyon, 62-56. Michael Milligan Jr. had 21 points and Justin Rubia 18. The Celts will host Bishop Montgomery in the quarterfinals.

Harvard-Westlake defeated JSerra, 53-49. Derick Newton had 20 points and Zena Edosomwan 17. The Wolverines will play Serra in the quarterfinals. Nicholas Stover had 33 points in Windward's 83-70 win over Maranatha. Jeremy Major scored 34 points for Maranatha.
