Boys’ basketball: Long Beach Poly (21-1) keeps rolling

Long Beach Poly Coach Sharrief Metoyer said he’s a little surprised the Jackrabbits are 21-1, but he believes the team is buying into the things they need to do to succeed.
Poly’s latest triumph came on Saturday in the Nike Extravaganza, a 67-45 victory over Orange Lutheran. The Jackrabbits focused on making life difficult for Arizona-bound Gabe York, who was 0 for 7 shooting in the first half and finished five of 19. He had 23 points.
Roschon Prince, stuck on the bench in the first half with three fouls, scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half when the Jackrabbits turned a 22-17 halftime lead into a rout. Rueben Strickland had 21 points.
