It all comes down to a good tape job. Eric Cooper Jr., the standout junior guard for La Verne Lutheran, played with a broken finger on Tuesday in a Southern Section Division 4AA quarterfinal game against Oaks Christian.

He was a key contributor, acting more as a facilitator and ball handler than shooter. For Friday’s semifinal game against Crespi at the University of La Verne, Lutheran will be hoping for an improved tape performance that might help Cooper as a shooter.

On Tuesday, his finger tips were taped, which made it difficult for him to get a feel for the ball, according to his father, Eric Cooper, who’s also Lutheran’s coach. This time, the finger tips won’t be taped, which should allow Eric Jr. to shoot more.
