Mater Dei (22-2), however, finally took control behind Eli Stalzer, who contributed two key baskets. Xavier Johnson had 19 points and Katin Reinhardt 17 for the Monarchs. It was the closest game Mater Dei has had at home all season.

Eric Cooper contributed 21 points for Lutheran (18-6).

In the final game of the night, Shabazz Muhammad scored 41 points, going six for six from three-point range, to lead Las Vegas Bishop Gorman to a 69-59 victory over Chicago Whitney Young.
