Boys’ basketball: It’s a Serra-La Verne Lutheran final

Dakarai Tucker scored a career-high 33 points to help Gardena Serra defeat host Los Angeles Price, 70-63, in a Southern Section Division 4AA semifinal game on Friday night.

‘He was phenomenal,’ Coach Dwan Hurt said.

Serra pulled away late after getting several defensive stops and converting clutch free throws. The Cavaliers will face La Verne Lutheran in next week’s final. Lutheran held off Crespi, 51-49. Michael Milligan missed a shot at the buzzer. He had 16 points. Grant Jerrett had 17 points for Lutheran.

Skylar Spencer had 17 points, five blocks and four dunks for Price.

In 3A, Oak Park upset No. 2-seeded St. John Bosco, 67-66. Ron Lee Jr. scored 27 points and Jackson Hall 16. Daniel Hamilton had 25 points for St. John Bosco. Oak Park will play Alemany in the final. Alemany defeated Santa Margarita, 78-67. Marqueze Coleman had 28 points and Max Guercy 18.

In 1AA, Long Beach Poly got 40 points from Roschon Prince in a 77-67 win over Eisenhower and will face Etiwanda in the semifinals. Etiwanda defeated Santa Monica, 89-62. Jordan McLaughlin scored 28 points.

Loyola defeated Upland, 69-63. Jacob Hazzard scored 15 points and Julian Harrell 15. Loyola will face Mater Dei in the semifinals. Mater Dei got 26 points from Katin Reinhardt in a 72-60 win over Foothill.

In 1A, Orange Lutheran defeated Corona, 79-70. Gabe York scored 32 points.

Calabasas defeated Torrance, 67-46. Jeremy Lieberman had 14 points and Josh Cohan 12.

In 3AAA, Arroyo Grande advanced to the final with a 51-44 win over Palm Desert.

In 4A, Pacific Hills defeated Campbell Hall, 76-69. Cole Huff had 33 points for Campbell Hall.

Providence defeated Kilpatrick, 74-61. Freshman Marcus LoVett Jr. had 46 points.

In 2A, Righetti received 31 points from Ryan McGready to defeat Murrieta Valley, 70-60. In 2AA, Royal advanced to semifinals with 54-49 win over Tesoro. JR Powell had 18 points.
