Baseball: Saugus adds top softball player to its roster

It's going to be an interesting season for the Saugus baseball team, because it has added one of the nation's top young softball players, Maddy Jelenicki, to its roster.

Jelenicki, a sophomore catcher committed to UCLA, transferred from Valencia to Saugus and is ineligible to play softball this season after the Southern Section ruled the transfer was for athletic reasons.

So she tried out for the baseball team and has made the team, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.

"I hope to help my team win a championship," she said.
