Ventura Buena, coming off a 22-6 season, looks loaded in the pitching department after starting the season with a 2-1 victory over Granada Hills and a 6-0 victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. And No. 1 pitcher Charlie Brooks, a sophomore who beat Harvard-Westlake last season, isn’t scheduled to make his season debut until this week.

Sophomore left-hander Sawyer Hamilton threw 6 2/3 shutout innings against Notre Dame. Isaac Horigan, a 6-foot-3 senior headed to Iowa, beat Granada Hills.
