Soccer: El Camino Real goalie gunned down at his home

Grief counselors will be at Woodland Hills El Camino Real on Thursday to help students after the death of soccer goalie Francisco Rodriguez, a 17-year-old senior who was shot and killed outside his home in Winnetka on Wednesday night not long after returning home after helping El Camino Real tie Taft, 0-0, in a West Valley League match.

Police are investigating the shooting that has stunned El Camino Real, which has annually produced one of the top soccer teams in the City Section.

‘He was a great kid who had a love for soccer,’ assistant principal Vinnie Orlando said.
