Boys' basketball: Zena Edosomwan lifts Harvard-Westlake past Crespi

A basket by 6-foot-8 Zena Edosomwan as time expired lifted Harvard-Westlake to a 68-67 victory over Encino Crespi, handing the Celts their first defeat in Mission League play.

Michael Milligan Jr. had given Crespi (18-2, 5-1) a one-point lead when he scored with 15 seconds left. Harvard-Westlake (11-6, 3-2) received 26 points from Derick Newton, 18 from Edosomwan and 15 from Michael Sheng in coming back from a 46-27 halftime deficit. The Celts face Loyola on Monday at Loyola.

In the Tri-Valley League, Ron Lee scored 30 points to help Oak Park (16-6, 5-0) upset Oaks Christian, 61-60. In the Ocean League, Jordan Mathews scored 35 points in Santa Monica's 62-57 win over Morningside. Austin Mills of Beverly Hills made nine three-pointers and scored 40 points in a loss to Inglewood.

In the Western League, Westchester defeated Palisades, 64-61, to take over first place. Je'ron Primus scored 18 points for Westchester. Donovan Johnson had 19 points for Palisades. University defeated Venice, 77-67. Breamon Richard scored 20 points. Fairfax defeated Hamilton, 56-47.

In the West Valley League, Julian Richardson made an 18-foot shot with 1.7 seconds left to give El Camino Real a 57-55 win over Chatsworth. He finished with 17 points. Taft defeated Birmingham, 74-58. Anthony January had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Steven Jones had 16 points. In the East Valley League, Grant defeated Hollywood, 64-33. Gor Plavchyan had 15 points.

In the Marine League, Washington defeated San Pedro, 73-34. Isaiah Hicks scored 19 points.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated West Adams, 71-35. Brandon Baker and Andre Edwards scored 20 points each.

In the Baseline League, Dominick Alexander scored 14 points as Etiwanda (19-1, 4-0) defeated Alta Loma, 68-29. In the Sierra League, Jared Dizon scored 15 points and Chris Reyes had 12 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks as Damien (18-1, 4-0) defeated Charter Oak, 51-31.

Dominguez defeated Downey, 67-61. Brandon Hurt scored 20 points. Dakari Archer had 31 points for Downey, making 18 of 19 shots from the free-throw line.

In the Marmonte League, Calabasas defeated Simi Valley, 75-51. Jeremy Lieberman scored 31 points. Royal defeated Moorpark, 68-34. Max McCoy scored 18 points and JR Powell 16 points. Scott Woods had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Thousand Oaks upset Westlake, 53-46, in overtime. Grant Lozoya had 20 points for Westlake. Tanner Fanjoy led Thousand Oaks with 22 points.

In the Trinity League, Mater Dei defeated JSerra, 80-45. Katin Reinhardt led the way with 26 points and Xavier Johnson had 21 points and 15 rebounds. In New Orleans, Isaac Hamilton scored 29 points but St. John Bosco was beaten by Alabama Wenonah, 85-67.

In the Foothill League, Canyon (19-1, 4-0) defeated Golden Valley, 68-34. Clay Kasdorf had 24 points and Coley Apsay 17.

Santa Maria Righetti defeated Pas Robles, 67-41. Ryan McGready had 18 points. Righetti is 16-2 and 2-0 in the Pac-7 League.
