It looks like Studio City Harvard-Westlake (10-4, 2-0) won’t be getting back Utah-bound Josh Hearlihy until the playoffs at the earliest after he suffered a torn patella ligament in his knee last month while stepping down from some bleachers, but 6-foot-5 sophomore Derick Newton has been doing his best to help out.

Newton leads the Wolverines in scoring with a 19.1 average. Senior Zena Edosomwan is also hanging tough, averaging 15.9 points.

Harvard-Westlake started slow but is pretty much where the Wolverines want to be, unbeaten in the Mission League and preparing for games against Chaminade on Wednesday and Loyola on Friday at Cal State Los Angeles.

‘They’re working hard and making progress,’ Coach Greg Hilliard said.
