In a year’s time, after playing against their older brothers, professional players Jordan (NBA) and Gary (Japan) in the off season, Isaac and Daniel Hamilton of Bellflower St. John Bosco have become so good it’s scary.

Isaac, a 6-foot-5 junior, scored 37 points Wednesday night. Daniel, a 6-6 sophomore, scored 23 points. St. John Bosco (14-2, 4-0) defeated Orange Lutheran, 80-73, in a Trinity League game.

The brothers received tips from their older brothers and from private coach Shea Cotton. Isaac was a standout last season at Crenshaw, but Daniel has really made giant strides, growing into his body.

Orange Lutheran (12-6, 2-3), losing its fourth consecutive game, received 20 points from Payton Banks and 19 from Darien Williams. The Lancers were without Arizona-bound Gabe York, who was serving a two-game suspension for playing in a men’s league game.

After Isaac Hamilton fouled out and Daniel had four fouls, St. John Bosco got a huge lift from Braiten Madrigal, who made a three-pointer with 1:14 left to give the Braves a 77-71 lead.

St. John Bosco leaves Thursday for a tournament in New Orleans. Looming ahead is a showdown game with Santa Ana Mater Dei next Friday at St. John Bosco. Getting into the gym could be difficult.
