Boys’ basketball: Damien continues to roll behind Chris Reyes

La Verne Damien improved to 17-1 overall with a 63-55 victory over Chino Hills. Chris Reyes had 24 points and Jared Dizon added 21 points, including five three-pointers.

In a showdown game in the South Coast League between the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in Southern Section Division 1A, Capistrano Valley defeated Mission Viejo, 46-43, on a late three-pointer by Aleks Lipovic.

In the Alpha League, Pacific Hills defeated Campbell Hall, 76-58. Marcus Jackson scored 35 points for Pacific Hills. Aaron Holiday had 31 points for Campbell Hall.

In the Tri-Valley League, Oaks Christian defeated Nordhoff, 71-35. Chass Bryan scored 14 points.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart improved to 17-2 with a 54-42 win over St. Monica. Jose Estrada scored 24 points. Cantwell-Sacred Heart had to forfeit a season-opening win because it didn’t submit transfer papers in time regarding Estrada, who moved from Mexico.

Gahr defeated Dominguez, 63-57. Davion Thomas had 25 points for Dominguez.

Santa Maria Righetti improved to 15-2 and 5-0 with a 77-49 win over San Luis Obispo. Ryan McGready scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds.
