Los Angeles Fairfax gets back talented senior guard Brendyn Taylor on Wednesday. He played in only seven games last season after transferring from View Park, then was declared ineligible by the CIF. The CIF, the family and the school finally worked out an agreement, and Taylor will make his season debut against L.A. University.

He was one of the Lions’ top scorers when he was on the court and there’s no reason to think he won’t be an impact player offensively.

His return comes at a critical time, because Fairfax (8-5, 1-0) is about to start its most important part of the Western League season and also has big games ahead in nonleague action.

Fairfax is hosting its City Preview Tournament next Saturday, with Grant playing Taft at 5 p.m. followed by Narbonne vs. Fairfax at 7 p.m. That means a Taft-Fairfax game is likely for Jan. 21, a possible preview of the City Section Division I final.

There’s also the State Preview Classic on Jan. 28 at Fairfax. The final two games of the night, Fairfax vs. Gardena Serra at 6:30 p.m. and Loyola vs. Orange Lutheran at 8 p.m. are expected to be televised by Time Warner Cable. Price plays Windward at 4:30 p.m. in what should be an impressive three-game set.
