Boys’ basketball: Price’s Skylar Spencer is a dominant big man

When it comes to blocking shots and rebounding, few big men are doing it better these days than Price’s 6-foot-8 Skylar Spencer.
He had 17 points and 13 rebounds on Monday to lead Price past Palm Springs, 62-57, in the MLK Hoops Showdown at Price.
In other MLK games, Ribet defeated Campbell Hall, 86-52. Freshman Tyler Dorsey had 21 points for Ribet. Freshman Aaron Holiday had 31 points for Campbell Hall. Morningside defeated Providence, 71-70. Freshman Marcus LoVett Jr. scored 29 points for Providence.
Dorsey defeated Dominguez, 53-50. Donald Muepo Jr. had 19 points. EJ Johnson scored 17 points for Dominguez. Mayfair defeated Washington, 69-57. Ralph Harvey Jr. had 27 points for Washington. Gardena Serra defeated Santa Monica, 64-57. St. Bernard held off Culver City, 73-69. Brandon Randolph scored 22 points for St. Bernard. Kelian Horton had 30 points for Culver City.
At Los Osos, Pacific Hills continued its winning ways with a 69-55 victory over Chino Hills. Marcus Jackson scored 22 points. Damien (16-1) defeated Ventura, 52-47. Chris Reyes, a 6-7 senior who had 11 and 10 blocks in league games, finished with 18 points for Damien.
La Verne Lutheran held off Orange Lutheran, 60-58. Eric Cooper scored 22 points and Grant Jerrett had 19 points. Gabe York was held out of the game by Orange Lutheran in what might be the first of a two-game suspension for playing in an adult-league game.
