One of unbeaten Westlake’s most valuable players has been kicker Alex Ball. He has 19 field goals. He constantly boots the ball into the end zone for touchbacks and is also the Warriors’ punter.

But he had to leave Friday’s Northern Division final against Oaks Christian in the second quarter after a possible hyper-extension of his non-kicking knee.

A sophomore, Jonathan Weilbacher, had to fill in for Ball in the second half. The Warriors will need Ball next weekend when they are expected to play Concord De La Salle in the Open Division of the CIF state championship bowl games.
