There’s shock and disappointment in Lompoc.

The Braves went 14-0, have a 20-game winning streak and beat Western Division champion Arroyo Grande but were still passed over for the Division III bowl game in favor of Fresno Washington Union.

“I’ve got 53 kids crying and calling me,” Lompoc Coach Andrew Jones said. “I have no idea what to tell them. Is it a joke? I’m extremely disappointed. We’ve won 20 straight games and have a far better strength of schedule.”

Jones drove up to Oakland Saturday night to scout what was expected to be his opponent in the CIF state championship bowl game.

“I want an explanation,” Jones said.
