Boys’ basketball: Julian Harrell is MVP for Loyola

Los Angeles Loyola (8-0) won the Santa Monica tournament championship with an 82-69 victory over Misssion League rival Alemany. Julian Harrell was named the tournament MVP. Parker Cartwright had 20 points, Harrell 13 and Jacob Hazzard 10. Max Guercy scored 24 points for Alemany (3-1).

Price defeated Fairfax, 54-41, for third place. Trey Dickerson had 15 points. Ronny Price scored 17 for Fairfax.

El Camino Real defeated Palisades, 53-51, in a consolation game of the Santa Monica tournament in a game involving top City Section teams. Mike Thomas had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Julian Richardson also had 16 points. Santa Monica defeated Windward, 65-51.

In the Canyon tournament championship game, MVP London Perrantes had 11 points in Crespi’s 57-40 win over Canyon. Mike Milligan had 18 points and Michael Avery 10 rebounds. Grant defeated Kennedy, 53-47, for third place. Gor Plavchyan had 17 points. Dominique Vargas scored 23 for Kennedy.

In the Moorpark tournament, MVP Kennedy Edwards scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds as Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Oaks Christian, 62-58, to win the championship. Chass Bryan had 17 points for the Lions.

In the Westchester tournament, Bishop Montgomery defeated Gardena Serra, 54-44.

In the L.A. University tournament, Sherman Oaks Buckley won the championship with a 41-38 win over University. Tyler Coppin-Carter had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Buckley is 6-0.

Orange Lutheran stayed unbeaten with a 74-47 win over Providence. Gabe York had 24 points. Freshman Marcus LoVett scored 29 points for Providence.

No. 1 Mater Dei defeated Palm Desert, 71-56. Xavier Johnson had 19 points, Elijah Brown 16 and Stanley Johnson 15 points and eight rebounds.
