Boys’ basketball: Brentwood improves to 4-0

Did Brentwood sign Ryan Bailey to a long-term contract as its basketball coach? If not, the first-year coach could be much in demand the way the Eagles are playing.

They improved to 4-0 on Thursday after a 56-55 victory over Mira Costa. Sophomore Yonathan Napoleon made five three-pointers and had 20 points. Sophomore Tra Holder added 16 points.

In the Redondo tournament, Redondo defeated Palisades, 55-52, to advance to Friday’s semifinals against Loyola at 7:15 p.m. Junior Derek Biale scored 29 points for Redondo. All-City guard Donovan Johnson had 18 points for Palisades before having to leave the game with a lower back injury.

Junior guard Isaac Hamilton, a transfer from Crenshaw, already is comfortable at Bellflower St. John Bosco. He had 31 points and 10 rebounds in an 81-56 victory over Bell in the Gahr tournament. Brother Daniel Hamilton, a sophomore, added 18 points and eight assists. St. John Bosco is 2-0.

Santa Ana Mater Dei (3-0) defeated San Juan Hills, 86-20. Elijah Brown scored 15 points.

Anaheim Servite pulled out a 50-49 victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame when Madison Hayden made a shot at the buzzer. Jonathan Bell scored 23 points and Kennedy Edwards had 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks for Notre Dame.

In the Pasadena tournament, Price defeaed Chino Hills, 63-57. Etiwanda knocked off Washington, 72-48. It was Cajon 61, Cleveland 58; Birmingham 64, Canyon Springs 57.

Muir defeated Los Angeles Jordan, 81-42. Crenshaw defeated West Torrance, 66-41. Andre Edwards and Brandon Baker had 18 points apiece.
