November 16, 2011 |  9:33 pm

Luis Silva and Carlos Alvarez were high school soccer standouts at L.A. Salesian in 2008, and now each has emerged as a top college player and potential high draft pick in the MLS.

Silva was the Big West Conference midfielder of the year at UC Santa Barbara. He led the Big West in scoring with 16 goals.

Alvarez is one of the top players for Connecticut.
