It’s the time of the year when football coaching changes start to happen, and Los Angeles Washington has begun a search for a new coach after the resignation of Cornell Ward.

Washington made the City Section Division II playoffs but then was removed when it failed to show up for a film exchange.

There also could be coaching changes coming at South Gate and Sylmar. South Gate Coach Christian Salazar has not made his resignation official, according to a school spokesman. Sylmar Coach Andy Kasek endured a season in which several players quit and parents complained during a 3-7 season, making his future as coach in doubt.

In the Southern Section, St. Paul, Burbank Bell-Jeff, Whittier and Long Beach Millikan are advertising for new head coaches.
