Football: JSerra, Mater Dei and Notre Dame are unbeaten at freshman level

November 4, 2011 |  9:39 am

This blog has been updated with a correction. See below.

And then there were three. San Juan Capistrano JSerra, Santa Ana Mater Dei and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame have emerged with 9-0 records for their freshman teams.

The big showdown game happens next Thursday, when JSerra plays at Mater Dei. Mater Dei defeated Anaheim Servite on Thursday, so the Monarchs look pretty tough.

But JSerra has a fantastic group of freshmen. Last season, the Lions didn't win a game in the Trinity League.

Come December, it will be time for the varsity coaches to turn the top freshmen into varsity players.

An earlier version of this blog had JSerra playing host to Mater Dei next Thursday in a freshman game. The game is at Mater Dei.
