A committee of non-coaches will put together the City Section football pairings Saturday (the office is guaranteeing release of the information no later than 2 p.m.).

Thanks to West Adams’ upset victory over Crenshaw, the Division I pairings will be looking a whole lot different. West Adams earned the No. 2 spot from the Coliseum League, meaning the Panthers (5-5) must be placed in the bracket before two-time defending champion Crenshaw (5-4).

So here’s a projection of the first eight seeds: 1. San Pedro, 2. Dorsey, 3. Narbonne, 4. Venice, 5. Birmingham, 6. Carson, 7. West Adams, 8. Crenshaw.

Carson, the third-place finisher in the Marine League, thinks it deserves to be seeded ahead of Birmingham, the West Valley League champion, based on playing the toughest schedule in Southern California. But Birmingham has made dramatic improvement over the course of the season, and Carson lost its two showdown games in league play.

The big development is Crenshaw dropping to a potential No. 8 seed. That means in the second round, there could be a Crenshaw-San Pedro meeting.

Below is a look at last year’s seeding meeting in which Carson got the No. 1 seed over Crenshaw.
