Boys’ basketball: ‘This is absolutely outrageous’

Boys’ basketball coaches beginning to receive word about their placement in the Southern Section playoff divisions are not exactly offering a vote of confidence if they’re part of Division 4AA.

‘This is absolutely outrageous,’ first-year El Segundo Coach Craig Gast said about his team’s placement. ‘There are 18 schools that are private schools and don’t have to follow the same rules as us.’

This is what happens when people get the great idea of creating a division full of top private schools and stick some overmatched public schools in with them.
