Many of the top high school baseball players in Southern California will play in a charity game on Saturday to raise funds for former Santa Ana Mater Dei standout Cory Hahn.

All proceeds from the 1 p.m. game at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton will help support Hahn, who was paralyzed as the result of a collision near second base while playing for Arizona State last season.

Hahn, The Times’ high school player of the year as a senior at Mater Dei in 2010, was injured in only his second college game. Trying to steal second base, he sustained a fractured spinal cord the paralyzed him from the chest down.

Hahn’s father, Dale, has retired from his job to give Cory full-time care. Tickets are $10, $5 for students with ID.
