Softball: Crescenta Valley Coach Dan Berry dies

Longtime Crescenta Valley softball Coach Dan Berry died on Wednesday. He was 65. Berry suffered two seizures inside the Crescenta Valley coaches' office on Oct. 11, went into cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital, according to the Glendale News-Press.

Born Nov. 28, 1945, in Greensboro, N.C., Berry guided Crescenta Valley to 20 Pacific League championships and a Southern Section championship in 1986. Berry started the Crescenta Valley softball program in 1983 and had a record of 570-117.

Berry also coached briefly at Pierce College in 1995 and Mission College in 1997 before returning to Crescenta Valley in 1998.

A celebration of his life is pending.
