October 27, 2011 |  2:20 pm

The Anaheim Police Department has concluded its investigation into an alleged assault that occurred during the water polo match between Anaheim Servite and Santa Ana Mater Dei on Oct. 10 and turned the case over to the Orange County District Attorney's office to decide if charges will be filed, according to police spokesman Sgt. Rick Martinez.

Servite canceled scheduled matches for Thursday against Mater Dei on recommendation of its legal counsel. The allegation involves a Servite player allegedly being choked by a Mater Dei player during the match.

Police believe they have identified the Mater Dei player involved in the incident, Martinez said. Both the Mater Dei player and the Servite player are juveniles.
