Football: The City Section mystery team gets to show its stuff

San Pedro is the mystery team in the City Section. The Pirates are 7-0 and not many people know how good they are. On Friday night, with a Marine League game against Carson, we'll finally get to see if the Pirates deserve to be in the City Section Division I title conversation.

Quarterback Kenny Potter has been having a terrific season for San Pedro. And you can always count on a Mike Walsh-coached team to play strong defense.

The only problem for San Pedro is that there's no signature victory yet. Wins over West Adams, Locke, North Torrance, Inglewood, Westchester, Washington and Gardena don't reveal a whole lot.

But a victory over Carson would let everyone know the Pirates are for real.
