I’ve rarely gotten to a high school game more than 4 1/2 hours before kickoff, but I’m just as excited as the fans for Thursday night’s Oaks Christian-Westlake Marmonte League game.

It’s more than an hour before the JV game begins, and fans are already starting to arrive. The TV cameras have been set up by FS West, and the aroma of hot dogs being grilled is in the air.

It’s going to be a little cool but the intensity in the stands and on the field should heat things up.

There’s so much to learn from the game. How good is Westlake? Was Oaks Christian’s victory over St. Bonaventure a fluke? Is Oaks Christian quarterback Brandon Dawkins as good as his stats indicate? Is the Marmonte League race really going to be over after tonight’s results? Will the stadium lights stay on for all 48 minutes? Will Eric Sondheimer make it out of the Westake parking lot before 11 p.m.?

I’ll be doing some blogging and analyzing afterward. There’s more than 300 tickets still available.
