Football: Narbonne hosts Carson in Marine League showdown

The first of the big regular-season games in the City Section takes place Friday night when Harbor City Narbonne hosts Carson in the Marine League.

There will be so many top athletes on the field I should carry a stopwatch to time how fast they are as they pass by in a blur.

This game is going to come down to how well Narbonne’s defense can contain Carson receiver Darreus Rogers and running back Roger Jones. If Carson controls the clock with its running and passing, Narbonne could be in trouble.

But the Gauchos have their own weapons, led by quarterback Troy Williams.

Whatever happens, it should be an entertaining game for fans in the South Bay. Then, in two weeks, we’ll get Dorsey-Crenshaw. That’s when I’ll bring out another stopwatch.
