Canyon Country Canyon is 6-0. Valencia is 3-3. The winner of Friday’s game at Valencia will become the Foothill League title favorite.

On paper, Canyon looks like an overwhelming favorite, averaging 49.8 points a game. But Valencia isn’t too worried. The Vikings have played a much tougher schedule and were competitive in losses to Chaminade, Notre Dame and Loyola. The preparation could give Valencia an advantage.

Canyon has terrific skill-position players in quarterback Jonathan Jerozal, who has thrown 19 touchdown passes, and receiver Drew Wolitarksy, who has caught nine TDs. But the Cowboys have some injuries on their offensive line, and Valencia’s defense shut out Chaminade and Notre Dame in the first half earlier this season.

Whatever happens, the game should be competitive and go down to the finish.
